Happy Labor Day from Chicago! I’ve been here all weekend and I love the vibe of this city – especially the beautiful and vibrant architecture. There was a street I passed by my first day here that totally took me back to NYC (which is where I was exactly one year ago today 🙂 ).
My first day here didn’t go according to plan because my luggage didn’t get here with me, so I scored an emergency outfit from H&M – a blue polka dot dress that was perfect for the weather. I went to Northerly Island and had a Chicago style hotdog (except it was a “veg-dog”, lol) by the water.
I then stopped by a trendy cafe called Goddess and the Baker and tried their signature “rainbow cake” – it looks radioactive but it’s actually super fluffy and light and oh-so-Insta-worthy 😉 also 3 lattes a day on vacation is acceptable right? 😐
My second day in Chicago was a lot better considering I had my bags delivered, aka my outfits that I’d planned for weeks! Lol. I wore my new favorite skirt (only $13.50!) from Asos paired with my white one shoulder blouse and a textured sweater from H&M on top, tucked into the skirt.
I went on the Architecture River Tour by Shoreline Siteseeing – something that was highly recommended and with good reason. We departed from Navy Pier and had 75 minutes on the water with some of the most amazing views of the city. I learned so much about Chicago and how the architectural style evolved over the years – it was the best part of my trip yet!
I then tried my first deep dish pizza at Giordano’s! If you’re planning on visiting, I’d recommend going to one at a location that’s not as touristy as Navy Pier to save time on your trip. I went to the one near The Magnificent Mile and was lucky to get my pizza within an hour.
I have a couple more days to take in as much of Chicago as I can – so be on the lookout for my next post later this week!
