Versace Palazzo Empire – Review

Happy Friday! It’s been a week since I received this beauty in the mail, and I figured it was enough time for me to give you my honest opinion on the Versace Palazzo Empire tote. If you’ve read this post, you’ll know that I was lucky enough to win this bag! So here are my thoughts on whether it is worth the splurge or not…

Firstly, the shape of the bag is classic and timeless. It’s perfect for casual (me) or supermodel (Gigi) looks. Also, GIGI HADID HAS IT!!! Go get you some. Jk. Lol. (But for real though)

The matte black leather is super soft, and the medusa logo stands out without looking obnoxious.

One drawback that I noticed within a minute of taking it out of the dustbag was the way the clasp worked. I like that there is a strong lock situation along with the magnetic flap, but honestly it takes me a good few seconds every time I try to open the bag.

In comparison to some other bags at a similar price point such as the Gucci Dionysus or the Givenchy Antigona (top of my wishlist!), both of which I have held in person, the Palazzo Empire’s lock mechanism is definitely a bit of a drawback, in my opinion. I would have preferred something more straightforward, especially since I used to keep my previous handbag open at all times!

Something that is different about Versace in comparison to most other high end designer bags is the two strap options that it comes with. I initially thought that I’d hate the second wider strap, but in person I absolutely love it! It is comfortable on the shoulder while still looking chic, and exudes a luxe, athleisure vibe (perfect for a model off duty, or in my case consultant off duty look). The black strap is a more classic option, perfect for work days. In one week of carrying this bag, I’ve come to realize that having one of the straps on is more practical for me than carrying it on my arm with the smaller handles.

Overall, I am so thankful that I was gifted this bag, and will continue to wear it as my new everyday bag for work and even during the weekend! Apart from the cool factor of sharing something in Gigi’s closet, it also has an added bonus of being a unique bag that’s not all over Instagram already (um…hint hint: Dionysus). I look forward to creating more outfits with this bag!
